What this site collects, what it does not, and how to get in touch about it.
Short version
This site does not ask for your email address, does not run accounts or comments, does not set advertising cookies and does not load scripts from third-party domains. The fonts are served from this domain, so reading a page here does not tell a font CDN that you visited. The diagrams are inline SVG rather than images fetched from a media host or CDN.
What the server does record
Like almost every web server, this one writes an access log entry for each request. That entry contains the page requested, the date and time, the IP address the request came from, the referring page if the browser sent one, and the browser’s user-agent string. The log is used to keep the site running and to diagnose errors. It is not used to build a profile of a reader and it is not sold or shared.
Cookies
Readers are not given cookies. A WordPress login cookie is set only if an editor signs in to the administration area, and it exists for that purpose alone. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no personalisation cookies on this site.
Embedded content and outbound links
No guide currently embeds content from another site: no video players, no social media posts, no maps and no comment systems. If that changes, this page will name the service and say when it starts loading. Links to other sites are ordinary links; following one means that site’s own privacy policy applies from that point onward.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated, with the change noted, before any analytics service, advertising system or affiliate programme is added to the site. Any such addition will also be disclosed on the pages that carry it, not only here.
